Bio: Master John Kirkwood
AIMAA Scotland Director

Master John Kirkwood has been involved with Tae-Kwon-Do for over 35 years and has taught Tae Kwon-Do for over 25 years to students in Lanarkshire. Having first established his club in Larkhall when he was in his twenties. He taught the community for over 20 years before establishing the largest club in A.I.M.A.A Scotland, which is in Blantyre Sports Centre. He also teaches with his son John Kirkwood Jnr at Lesmahagow High School .

He has numerous World, International and National Champions within his school in Blantyre , and teaches specialised courses in self defence, point and continuous sparring, as well as body conditioning and plyometrics. Over the last decade he has went on produce many Black belts, some having went onto to becoming Instructors in their own right.

Master Kirkwood was appointed directly by Grandmaster Hee Il Cho as Director of A.I.M.A.A Scotland, were he endeavours to ensure that Grandmaster Cho's teachings and philosophies are engraved into the minds of the Instructors and students in Scotland. Master Kirkwood travels to the USA frequently to train with Grandmaster Cho and Master Ameris. He also travels to Europe to train with his Instructor Master John Darcy, who is the European Director of A.I.M.A.A.

Trained in Tae Kwon Do for over 35 years.

6th Degree Black Belt with over 25 years teaching experience.

Director of A.I.M.A.A Scotland.

International Certified Referee.

Chief Examiner of A.I.M.A.A Scotland.

British WUMA Open Champion 2008.

A.I.M.A.A Ireland National Champion 2007.

A.I.M.A.A World Champion 2004 Sparring & Destruction

Champion of numerous World, European, British and Scottish Titles.

Brown Belt in Samurai Swordsmanship.

In 1994 he founded The Scottish Tae Kwon Do Association, which diversified into A.I.M.A.A Scotland in 2002.

Inducted into the WUMA Black Belt Hall of Fame 2000.
